Hey there, Reader! I hope you're doing well, and I pray this little vignette blesses you...
So I heard this sound while folding a batch of towels the other night. I ignored it at first, but the faint thumping became more noticeable. I realized it was coming from the dryer. I’d put in a load of whites (towels, sheets, and t-shirts), but it sounded like tennis shoes beating against the sides of a barrel. I finally decided to check it out.
I opened the dryer door. A cloud of steam emerged from the damp laundry and my eyes beheld the most tangled mess I’ve seen come out of a dryer. In the the corners of the fitted bedsheet, multiple towels and t-shirts had gotten lodged in the corners. Ok, I’d seen that before. But I hadn’t seen it twist itself into a monstrous entity of a ball that I could hardly unravel since loading it 20 minutes prior.
It literally took me 5 minutes of exertion to pull the laundry out bit by bit so I could unwind the intertwined towels and t-shirts to dislodge them from the corners of that fitted bedsheet. After all that hassle, I decided to dry the fitted sheet by itself once everything else was finished.
Sometimes our lives feel like a jumbled up mess, don’t they?
Unprocessed thoughts accumulate and begin to collide (like bumper cars) thanks to information overload and a sneaking suspicion that somebody pushed a fast-forward button on our schedule.
Whether the mess is our own doing, caught us unawares, was inherited, or forced upon us doesn’t matter…a mess is still a mess – and who wants to live in that?! Exactly.
Thanks be to God for the One Who can unravel even the most complicated stuff (junk, issues, drama, MESS) that has entangled us. We have HELP – and I am SO grateful that we don’t have to do it by ourselves!
“Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”
(Romans 8:26)
P.S. At the end, it was worth wading through the tangle to unload those crisp, dry white clothes and enjoy the heat as I folded them! #SimplePleasures #EXTRAordinary

Hey there, Reader, If you've felt stuck lately, trust me, I GET IT. This one is for YOU, sis! Join me LIVE on YouTube in The Convo Lab for "Let’s Talk About Spiritual Voyeurism" TONIGHT at 6pm ET. Questions on how I came up with this? Check out my blog for the backstory - but here's the bottom line: Watching others without intent to take your OWN obedient action is just…wrong. Why? Because delayed obedience = disobedience. *I was convicted. I repented. And I'm moving forward in obedience....

Hey there, Reader! Both of my college students are back at school <wheeeee!>. So. Many. Stories. Seriously...even though they're (semi-)adults <why can't I say "grown?" Geez!> And yet, it all happened so fast it made my head spin. But it also made me realize that it's almost been ONE FULL YEAR since the launch of Back to School, Back to You: A Mom's Guide to Balance and Blessing in a School Year Transition. In the chapter I contributed to this inspiring collaborative book, I reflect on...
